CHAPTER OUTLINE

Chapter 1: MODELING TYPES & MODELING TERMINOLOGY

This chapter details the requirements of modeling types from: High Fashion and Runway to Petite and Plus Size modeling. It details and explains the physical requirements and measurements along with other physical attributes one needs to have, for fifteen different modeling categories. Terminology covering every aspect of the industry is listed along with each term or words meaning from: Audition & Job terminology to Television & Stage terms.


Chapter 2: ZED CARDS, PHOTOGRAPHS & YOUR PORTFOLIO

This chapter explains what a zed card is, where to get them, and why a model needs them. Examples of zed cards are shown along with detailed explanations of what pictures and information is needed on them. A portfolio is a résumé of a model’s work. How to build one, what type of pictures are needed, how to hire a photographer, how much they charge or should be charging, and what to wear to photo shoots are all explained in this chapter.

Chapter 3: PHOTOGRAPHERS & PHOTOGRAPHY AGENCIES

This chapter contains an extensive list of photographers across the counties who specialize and/or work in the modeling industry. The list is alphabetical, state-by-state and includes addresses and contact information and phone numbers.

Chapter 4: MODELING AGENCIES

An overview of what a modeling agency is and how it works. This chapter explains and gives examples of how much money per hour a model gets paid and how much money his or her agency charges. It also explains and lists unions affiliated with the modeling industry from SAG (Screen Actors Guild) to AFTRA (American Federation of Television & Radio Artist). It includes an extensive list state-by-state of modeling agencies including their addresses and phone numbers and union affiliates.

Chapter 5: BABY & CHILDREN MODELING AGENCIES

This chapter explains how and where to get started with a baby or toddler in the modeling industry. It details how much money a baby or toddler gets paid. It gives an overview of what to expect on a photo-shoot and what to expect from your child at a photo-shoot. It explains how to hire an agency and what they expect from you. It lists what you need to buy and/or have for an agency and for a photo-shoot. It lists modeling agencies across the countries that specialize in babies and toddlers. The list is alphabetical, state-by-state and includes each agencies age criteria (example: 3+ or 6+) along with their addresses, e-mail information and phone numbers.

Chapter 6: WORKING WITHOUT AN AGENT MODELING DOCUMENTS, FORMS & INCOME TAXES

This chapter explains the ins and outs of working with and/or without an agency. It explains how to independently find modeling work, how to bill clients and how to get paid. In great details and with picture examples it explains how to keep bookkeeping records, what kind of bookkeeping records to keep, and what income taxes are paid on modeling income. This chapter addresses the business end of the modeling profession and has numerous examples to refer to, including modeling contracts and receipts.

Chapter 7: MODELING & ETIQUETTE SCHOOLS

This chapter gives an overview of how modeling and etiquette schools work and what they teach. It lists in alphabetical order, state-by-state the name, address and phone numbers of modeling and etiquette schools across the country.

Chapter 8: AGENCY & UNION REPRESENTATION, FEES, COMMISIONS & TRAVELING EXPENSES.

This chapter explains and gives an overview of how a modeling agency works and how they make money. It explains what commissions and percentages they charge. It details how a model gets paid and who pays them. It explains what expenses are paid for and/or reimbursed by an agency when traveling out of town. It gives an overview of union representation and addresses how and when to join a union. It itemizes the dues and initiation fees that unions charge, along with their names and contact information.

Chapter 9: MODELING SCAMS & PITFALLS

This chapter explains how to recognize a scam and how to avoid them. Detailed examples of numerous scams and how they work including fraudulent agencies, schools and photographers are listed. An overview of how the glitz and glamour of this profession can cloud judgment and how to stay focused. What parties to attend and which parties not to attend.
